FachPack 2010 – Trade Fair for Packaging Solutions

Beckhoff will presents its PC- and EtherCAT-based control technology at FachPack, the trade fair for packaging solutions, which takes place from 28 to 30 September 2010 in Nuremberg, Germany. New products include Control Panels in stainless steel housing and wash-down motors. TwinCAT 3, the latest software generation from Beckhoff, extends the world of automation by many functions.

PC-based control technology enables the complete process chain for individual packaging machines and complete packaging lines to be controlled and monitored: Beckhoff Industrial PCs and TwinCAT automation software can be used to integrate
a wide range of packaging tasks such as filling, forming, sealing, labelling, collecting, re-packing and palletising.

Motors in wash-down variant
In the AM3000 synchronous servomotor series with an FDA-compliant, white surface coating, Beckhoff is bringing a special solution onto the market for all applications in the food industry. The coating is suitable for use around food products and is resistant to aggressive cleaning agents. TwinCAT integrates robotics, Motion Control and PLC on one platform
The extension of the TwinCAT automation suite by robot kinematics enables the inte-
gration of robots and their interaction and synchronisation with the PLC and Motion Control functions. This results in the seam-
less integration in the overall control system as well as dispensing with additional robot CPUs. The “TwinCAT Kinematic Transforma-
tion” software supports the following kinematic systems: cartesian portal, shear kinematics, roller kinematics (H-Bot), SCARA, 2-D kinematics, 2-D parallel kinematics and 3-D delta-kinematics. TwinCAT Kinematic

TwinCAT 3 is the PC-based control software, with which the standard auto-
mation world is extended considerably. In addition to the objectoriented IEC 61131-3 extensions, the languages of the IT world are available in C and C++. The integration of Matlab®/Simulink® enables the application in scientific fields. The modules for different languages run in a common runtime based on multicore technology and a 32- or 64-bit operating systems.
